The weld repair of a failed product presents a unique situation.  Frequently the material of construction is unknown and failure has occurred in an area requiring reinforcement.  One such repair carried out by Zeus Engineering Ltd. involved an eroded stainless steel bonnet used in a wood digester.  The repair of this pressurized cast component involved the development of appropriate welding procedure specifications, approval by the boiler authority and careful implementation of non-destructive testing methods.  The repair allowed the digester to be returned to full service.
